I know, I know, bear with me folks, but that's all I was about thinking while I was watching Hithchiker's Guide to the Galaxy today - that I should be watching it in London, not Anaheim, and definitely not on my own in a half empty theatre. I was the only girl in the audience.
Trailers for those of you who are interested:
The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl - I never got the Spy Kids franchise, and even though this is a standalone from that series, I can't help but think that the daring, maverick DIY principle has gone distinctly cornball and schlocky. On the other hand, I dig Lava Girl's outfit.
Herbie Reloaded - Wow, Lindsay. That's what all the fuss is about? Oh honey. Matt Dillon is in it too. MATT DILLON. Do I sense a Travolta in the works?
Dark Waters - I'd like to see Jennifer Connelly smile in a movie, for more than two seconds, and certainly not being plagued from the plumbing problems from hell.
The Corpse Bride - WOOOOO. CORPSE BRIDE! CORPSE BRIDE! It LOOKS FRICKING AWESOME. I love the hand drawn, victorian sketchy quality to the CGI, and of course Johnny Depp's voicing one of the characters. Along with Mrs. Burton, Helena Bonham Carter. I know A Nightmare before Christmas is in the same vein visually, but somehow...this just looks *cooler*.
And because Touchstone is owned by Disney, Disney ties in their new CGI TOTALLY WITHOUT PIXAR'S HELP THANKYOUVERYMUCH movie, Chicken Little with a blatant Hitchhiker's Guide rip off.
I miss that logo with the tongue sticking out, I do. The thumbs up just isn't the same.
I haven't read the trilogy in a while, so I don't really remember specifics - so did that help or hinder my enjoyment of the movie?:
( some spoilers and musing for HGtoG )
That reminds me. I should rewatch the Office.
hostile17girl and
sprightliness I got your packages, thank you!
Callum Blue should be kissing Ellen Muth, not Ellen Pompeo, is all I'm saying. OR ME.
Interesting note of the week: How does one go from Chris Klein to TOM FREAKING CRUISE? That's a nuclear jump in difference - I mean, I would have expected Paul Walker, or somebody similar. Maybe even Keanu Reeves. But TOM CRUISE?
