JUNE 10, 2005, FRIDAY.

Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle (as imagined by Hayao Miyazaki) premieres in select cities. I'm more than 90% confident that Los Angeles is one of them.

Who wants to go see it with me? There will be food involved afterwards. It is my fucking Star Wars, people. I've loved the book since junior high. I've pimped the book. I have the Japanese soundtrack to this movie already, even though I was SUPREMELY GOOD and did not download the bootleg of said Japanese movie. No, I AM WAITING UNTIL JUNE 10TH TO WATCH THIS.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go make screen caps of the trailer, and make icons. Shitty icons, yes, but icons nonetheless.

Ahem.

1. Disney's Official Site for the film

2. The Official Japanese Site for the film

3. READ/BUY THE BOOK

(there appears to be a upcoming art book dedicated to the movie as well, so mind the wishlist....

The other movie that is open to posse-corralling is Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest. or whatever randomily raunchy cheese name they come up with it.

Am SO jealous. Yes, it's going to be in LA - LA, NY, and SF, for the June 10th date. But it won't be in Phoenix till the general opening. Dammit. I just went so far as to check on plane tickets to LA, before realizing that was craziness. (They were hella cheap, but I couldn't get the right schedule with work.) So I'll just go read some DWJ and pout. Lucky!

Ditto on PotC:2, plus, I'm secretly looking forward to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Even though I'm not sure if it's for the pretty, for the plot, or for the trainwreck.

Howl's Moving Castle is starting up at the El Capitan on the 9th. The 9th being, I guess, the big premiere date shindig. I know it'll be playing there for a little while afterwards.

Also, since were talking Miyazaki, Spirited Away is the midnight movie at the Rialto in Pasadena on June 25th.

:)

ah yes. the big disney theater.

Howl's Moving Castle:
Unfortunately, the best I can hope for is the DVD release (I couldn't take the more nefarious route if I wanted unless I switched services), but the responses I've been getting from some of my friends have been kind of a mixed bag. Some thoroughly enjoyed it (but these are my friends who are religious with the Miyazaki), others say they preferred Spirited Away. I'm seeing it regardless, I'm just hoping this isn't his last movie.

POTC2:
The new Norrington fix can't come fast enough.
