Film of Howl's Moving Castle

It is now confirmed that Studio Ghibli, set up by acclaimed Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki will be making an animated film of Howl's Moving Castle. The film is due to be released in 2003 and will be distributed by Disney. Hayao Miyazaki (Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke) is executive producer of the Howl film, which is entitled Hauru no Ugoku Shiro in Japanese. The bad news for Brits is that Disney's distribution plans do not so far include the UK!

Howl's Moving Castle was the first novel I read by Diana...and remains my favorite, with Archer's Goon and Fire and Hemlock tied for a close second. A Dogs body and The Chrestomanci novels and the Derkholm series are fourth and fifth and sixth, respectively.

Oh hell, I love nearly all of her YA Fantasy novels...her 'adult' scifi ones are a bit harder to get into....though, I remember liking A Sudden Wild Magic quite a bit....but that isn't strictly sci-fi.

But yes, Howl's Moving Castle...I adore Howl and Sophie, and Howl was the first fictional character I've ever had a crush on....

I can't wait for this film.
