NYLON Japan has compiled their list of It Guys and Koizora survivor Haruma Miura makes the cover, in the standard stylist uniform of 'hip' - godawful 80s reject clothing. Dear stylists everywhere - the 80s were not actually all that great. PLEASE STOP PILLAGING IT FOR NOSTALGIA.

I think what offends me more than the ugliness is that you just know there's an insane inflated price tag on the outfits.

Following catboy, it's only appropriate to show off a boy with a cat - Mukai Osamu in Chou Chou. These scans are not mine, they're slightly tweaked versions of ones from baidu.com

You're welcome, Internet Ovaries. YOU'RE WELCOME. I don't know who's cuter, Osamu or the cat. IT'S A VERY CLOSE CALL. LOOK AT THAT FACE.

and yes, you can use these scans for graphics and such. All scans are mine unless otherwise stated, credit would be nice.

that when someone asks you, "Do you want to die?" the only obvious answer is to reply, "Actually, I would prefer some cake."

Thank you Eddie Izzard.

But really, consider that kdrama staple. Along with standing in the street and yelling, "YAH. [insert name of love interest you loathe but secretly can not live without]" which, by the way, is also apparently the key to ensnaring Kim Jaejoong's heart for your very own. Clearly there are some things that are just bred into the bone. I wonder if there are bonus points for running after his bus.

Me, I'm mostly lazy and prefer to win over people with my effervescent charm and delightful personality. And also I bake.

And another shortcoming - every guy that I've ever intensely disliked, I've really hated their guts. I never had a secret yearning to look at them soulfully in the rain. Because world, sometimes you just hate that person's face. And witty banter? Doesn't work on stupid people.

But it is a plot device for a reason.

The life and times of Saff, unemployed superhero is ticking along smoothly. I've had quite a lot of sleep to make up for all the deficit that went on before in maintaining a semi-professional veneer of competence. I'm getting pillowface, so maybe too much sleep.

But can you blame me when my pillows look like this?

I've had a bit of a rummage and have sold nearly 50% of all my manga and books I don't read anymore. But I worked at Borders for almost two years, and when you factor in the 33% employee discount, that is still a lot of books to get through. I'm trying to accumulate less because I understand realistically, that 90% of the things I buy are things I want, and not need. And if I'm to move to another country, I'd really like to leave as little behind as I possibly can get away with, without a scenario of posting a free for all on Craigslist.

Man, I still can't believe I bought 300. I think I was temporarily insane - I like maybe 1% of Frank Miller's work. I also sold off two Harry Potter hardcovers - the Half Blood Prince and the Order of the Phoenix.

Anyway. Yes, with the decompressing, I've managed to catch up on some fannish inquisition stuff pre-mental breakdown at Work That I don't have to Go Into Anymore because I am the Empress of Awesome, and yes, that's my Official Superhero name:

You're welcome, yes, I love you, now vacuum under the couch and bring me a freshly mixed limeade.

Seeing how this is an an previewing Meisa's photobook LOVE MEISA and it'll probably just end up on baidu anyway, I have not watermarked these scans. Have fun, look both ways crossing the fandom street, and remember...I am super awesome. You can not even begin to contemplate the amount of awesome that I am. Because. It is NON-SPECIFIC. (credit would be greatly appreciated, otherwise.)

I'm really looking forward to watching Shihori Kanjiya and Junpei Mizobata in Buzzer Beat meet cute and be cute.

Anyway, have some scans of Maki Horikita, Shihori Kanjiya and Jun Kaname at their prettiest (or most ridiculous manga-ified dream.)

so here we are again, waiting for the other one to speak )

Finished all the available subbed episodes of BOSS so far - I was worried that it would be an amalgam of Sex and The City (which I despise) and CSI/the Profiler because the opening credits, you know? Very frothy and cat-walky and has nothing to do with the drama whatsoever. It's a very glossy, very trendy - 'let's play with cool transitions and zoom effects because WE CAN' of the moment type of drama, but has solid acting, especially from Yuki Amami, the female lead and the Boss of the title. It's entertaining, but I'm not emotionally invested in any of the characters.

But yes, they did assemble a fine looking cast.
bluelovesorange: (boy over flowers)
another one off - I had a great day out yesterday - went to the Japanese bookstores in my neighborhood, came home and got dinner at a Korean supermarket - did a lot of walking, got some yogurt at Yogurtland, saw a mildly amusing and fluffy film (the Proposal) and anyway, had one of those perfect summer days.

So I'm passing my good mood onto you!

Selected excerpts & scans from the most recent MYOJO, featuring a bunch of JE fetuses on the cover (and no, I didn't scan any of their bits.)

There's the usual suspects: Arashi, NEWS, KATTUN (I've come to the realization that I'd like to punch 1/2 of KATTUN in the face all the time. I'll leave it to your imagination to guess which three.) with appearances from the elder statesmen: V6, Kinki Kids, Tackey & Tsubasa and SMAP. There's also Satomi Ishihara, Erika Toda, Yui Aragaki, Rei Okamoto, Nana Eikura (finally styled her hair out to the point where it's really cute looking and not so...awkward) Riko Narumi, Saki Fukada, Toma Ikuta and many more.

it's summertime! )

*note to self, when Moneypenny is functioning again, work on enormous icon batch for AtaDan, incredibly iconable

Hmmm, just as my subject line says. Waiting for Giri Giri to post the softsubs for AtaDan 9: where the eyeflirting and ambiguous glances are exchanged by many! (Like the title of the kdrama parody on MADTV!)

I'm going to be sad when my happy sunshine spring into summer show is over after episode 11. I mean, there's yakuza!Meisa to look forward to, but oh, Ookuras. I heart them so much as a family, and episode nine is full of the reasons why.

Anyway, have some scans from Junon (the clerks at Sanseido are so used to my schizophrenic, random purchases now. My recent haul was Mika Ninagawa's New Half mook - where I marvel at how much neon pink goes in on a MN photoshoot, and how the surgeons do really good work, but there's still some obvious tells, JUNON (I was so embarrassed by this. It's like the equivalent of buying um...Bop and erm, a teeny magazine when you're not a teeny anymore.), Men's Joker, FineBoys, and I was going to buy FRAU for the gorgeous mini insert of Kanjiya Shihori in wedding kimono attire, but decided to pass on it for next time. Seriously, I've always thought she was pretty but those pictures = super maximum gorgeousness.)

feel free to use for translations, graphics and the like. No reposting unless I do it (obviously), and credit [livejournal.com profile] calledinvain if you're so inclined.

Both Yusuke and Koji have a pinup poster in this issue, and there's more with Yusuke as well, but they'll be posted later once I get my main computer issues sorted out.

And also, for fans of OTOMEN, as posted earlier - it's been turned into a live action drama, airing this summer on Fuji, a more extended cast list has been posted on Dramawiki, and it's certainly moved up on higher on my list of things to watch. There's a mix of the usual suspects (Fuji loves the Hana Kimi alums, plus it doesn't hurt that most of them have went on to become Big Names) and new people.

I've read scanlations of the first volumes and I know [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore likes it, but I'll be going into the drama manga blind. I think that helps with the experience, because I have no particular attachment to the manga whether it's mild amusement/like (Hana Kimi) or full out disdain (Hana Yori Dango).

Not to be a regular occurrence on this LJ, I'm afraid. I just thought I'd take my staycation time to chill out and finish some art projects/writing I had piled up, and also take a whack at my scanboxes (big clear boxes I have with all my magazine clippings/other paper miscellania).

Anyway, Atashinchi no Danshi continues to charm and delight me (I watched a bit of Mr. Brain last night, and this could be a Kimura Takuya series I finish~! I'm only really into him as a film actor, I haven't watched (nor do I want to) most of his dramas.) and so the spotlight is on three of the six brothers.....

Act Mini, vol. 5 2009 featuring some of the spring dorama stars

I've scanned the portraits of the actors, and not the corresponding screencaps/set reports, because I figured you could just watch the shows for that.

Featured: Matsumoto Jun, Ueto Aya, Sato Ryuta, Aragaki Yui, Oguri Shun, Hiraoka Yuta, Tabe Mikako, Matsuda Shota, Kashii Yu, Odagiri Joe, Nagasawa Masami, Mizukawa Asami, Ikuta Toma

I've also begun watermarking all my scans, but if anyone needs the raw scan, just ask me and I'll hook you up.

if you want to repost, please do not remove my watermarks (in case of Evil-sama, there are no watermarks, but I figured his scans would be the most popular anyway and would have already popped up), and just let me know in the comments.

So I'm getting over a mild case of OMGWHYDOIFEELSOAWFULANDCRAMPYIWANTTODIEANDORVOMIT, while watching the mercury climb here in Southern California, but a few fevers and nosebleeds aside, I'm almost back to normal.

Have downloaded the subbed version of Smile, will watch it later - I'm going to watch L: Change the World in a few. [livejournal.com profile] fivethreerin, I got the little postcard saying that I need to pick up your package at the post office! Which I will be doing so tomorrow, full of DELIGHT and joy.

Also got a surprise tee-shirt from [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714, because the hivemind likes to be dressed in snappy tees at all times, naturally.

I went to Kinokuniya tonight with a friend, and brought home quite a haul (manga, magazines, pencil board, calligraphy pen). My friend also let me borrow two issues of Pinky magazine (I wanted to thumb through it for hair style suggestions) and I saw quite a few pages that beg for scanning - oh Yamamoto Yusuke, you are stealth gorgeous. I foresee the rest of the weekend scanning images among other things - I also stopped by Dick Blick's, and went on a window shopping spree. There's an H&M in old town Pasadena, along with Famima's, which means I never have to go to Santa Monica again....well, except for the beach.
