the bananas! they are SPEAKING to you

I've watched JIU raw and I will watch it again with subs, but mostly the first episode is

a) a showcase for Meisa's inevitable work out DVD
b) Meisa on a motorcycle
c) Meisa taking down Oscar (Hana Kimi 2007) during karate practice repeatedly
d) Tabe Mikako in a series of cute white outfits
e) Shirota being all hot and skulking and morally ambiguous
f) ALL OF THESE THINGS, MY GOD

oh, and also some blonde random kid appearing in white like a badly styled mirage or a refugee from a Shinee video

Meisa meets Angelina Jolie at the Salt premiere.

I wouldn't be surprised if Meisa ended up doing the Japanese voice over for when Salt releases a dubbed version in Japan. She did the voice over for Kim Tae Hee's character in IRIS, and Yu Shirota voiced over for the second guy (!!!!).

Just showing up in a picture with A. Jolie has boosted Meisa's name and image in western portals a ridiculous amount. Tread carefully - we don't want another Tokyo Drift on our hands here. Or another remake of an Asian horror film.

I'm going to look around for an embeddable version, but here it is. The official Yazima Beauty Salon movie trailer! So much that is both wrong and AMAZING about it.

Watch out for Meisa dancing and Yusuke bloody nosed and more cross-dressing hijinks than you can throw a D-boy troupe at.

With a roadshow release date of April 29, 2010

recap from Tokyograph:

The film will cover the group's fictional history up until their CD debut last year.

The parody group consists of the Yajima family, which is a 37-year-old mother named Margaret (played by Tunnels' Noritake Kinashi), plus her 12-year-old daughter Strawberry (played by Tunnels' Takaaki Ishibashi) and 18-year-old daughter Naomi (played by DJ OZMA). So far, the only known detail of the group's history is that they came from Nevada to search for Margaret's missing Japanese husband. The movie, titled "Yajima Biyoshitsu THE MOVIE ~Yume wo Tsukama Nevada~," will flesh out their story.

Meisa is playing a character called Raspberry. Yusuke Yamamoto (yay!), Seiko Matsuda, Dante Carver also star in the film.

Yajima Biyoshitsu, a three-member unit created by DJ OZMA and comedy duo Tunnels, has a movie coming out in spring 2010.

Meisa Kuroki (21) will reportedly play Strawberry's rival. Child actress Ayaka Wilson (12) has also been cast. Filming is already in progress, and distributor Shochiku is aiming for a Golden Week release.

DJ OZMA and Tunnels formed Yajima Biyoshitsu last summer. They made their CD debut in October 2008 with the single "Nihon no Mikata - Nevada Kara Kimashita," which charted at #3 in its opening week. They released two more singles this year, reaching #5 and #9 on the sales charts.

Meisa's staff blog updated with confirmation of the news, Meisa is playing an 11 year old girl called Raspberry. Cue lolcats. If you youtube Yajima (or is Yoshima?) Beauty Salon, you'll see them in action.  I'm imagining Meisa with a fro or a beehive right now.

I got a surprise Christmas card (a glittery snow man) from the wonderful girls @ Unleash the Geek - when I saw the Singapore postmark, I thought of someone else - but then when I opened it, I burst out laughing.

Because not only had they wished me a very sweet holiday season, they enclosed playing cards with Yamapi's face on them - one from Code Blue and one doing 'dead fish' blue steel.

Thank you, Unleash the Geek! I always do enjoy starting my day with laughter.

that reminds me, I need to get started on my own holiday mail. And find my address book. I won't be sending out Christmas cards (far too late, as I am planning on making cards...and things) but if I have your address....

well, if I have it, I have it. :D

also, if you go over to www.meisakuroki.com (depending on time zones) her new PV "Are Ya Ready?" is up and streaming. 12/10 ~ 12/11 so hurry over to look at the wtf!sword usage and Meisa being sexyfiercecooldorky.
bluelovesorange: (Default)
So, the remaining factions of fandom that haven't gone gay for Maki after she released "S," Meisa is clearly determined to go after, because I KID YOU NOT, SHE HAS A SWORD IN HER NEW PV.

A SWORD.

Does she need a sword? Why is the sword there? Is it providing some kind of musical accompaniment? WHO THE HELL KNOWS. SHE HAS ONE.

ARE YA READY, INDEED.

I feel after a while, that this has crossed into taunting territory, and being the type of girl who would show up to a Broadway musical if it was called "NINJAS!" but not the type to actually watch Ninja Assassin ~ I .....Japan. Come on.

....how am I going to finish writing my Innocent Love ff now when all I'm thinking about is WHY DOES MEISA HAVE A SWORD.

It’s been 10 years since all 5 members of the group "Arashi" starred together in one dorama ("V no Arashi"), but early next year you are going to experience it again thanks to Fuji TV. The new dorama SP will be called "Saigo no Yakusoku" (Last Promise) and feature actress Kuroki Meisa in the role of the heroine.
Analysts expect the group Arashi to become one of the biggest names/groups in 2010 and already came up with phrases like "They are the next SMAP". The new dorama SP on Fuji TV seems to prove their point even more. Saigo no Yakusoku will be a suspense dorama with a major building getting taken over in an unprecedented incident. All 5 of them happened to be in that building at that time and now have to try to escape. Kuroki’s role will be that of the company president’s daughter who gets dragged into this event as well.

They already started the filming and had to do some powerful acting like Kuroki seizing Matsumoto Jun by his collar during a dispute. "It’s fun to film this dorama, because it has some very refreshing action scenes. There will be an unexpected development between Matsumoto’s and my character, so please look forward to it." She said.

Fuji TV plans to air it at the start of 2010, but so far they haven’t announce an exact date.

My favorite talent agency (Sweet Power) + my favorite JE group seems to be the new OTP for 2010: Maki's playing one of Matsujun's younger sisters in Fuji's special 50th anniversary SP, and then playing bossy efficient fiddle to Sho for TBS, and now Meisa is going diva la diva with evil-sama. IT CAN ONLY BE AMAZING.

and I can also predict fandom's reaction to it right now: "OMG IT'S MEISA SHE'S SO HOT AND FIERCE YAY SPARKLY RAINBOWS!" "UGH, it's HER? WHY ISN'T IT INOUE MAO (insert other actress name here) SO AND SO CAN ACTUALLY ACT." "SHE'S NOT GOING TO BE IN A LOVE SCENE WITH ONE OF OUR BOYS IS SHE? BITCH." "I HOPE THEY MAKE OUT AND HAVE PRETTY BABIES." "MEISA IS MY FAVORITE, I'M GLAD (so and so actress) WASN'T CAST."

"I wish Meisa was acting versus Sho in his show, she's SO FIERCE AND COOL and blah blah Maki is so BORING and BLAND AND GOODY GOODY BLAH BLAH."

"Why is she EVERYWHERE suddenly? I'm bored of her!"

and I have but one thing to say to fandom:and it's as sparkly and effervescent as I am )

Good job, Dorama Academy - a more balanced, objective distribution of achievement than just mere objectification.

Though I have no idea how Ninkyo Helper did not knock off Buzzer Beat for best drama, because it was head and shoulders above BB in plot progression, story arc, character development, and hot factor: Yusuke Yamamoto + Yuki Jutta + MEISA KUROKI + Osamu Mukai (for one episode, STILL COUNTS) and it had an adorable small child~!

So that's still a WTF, but I agree with pretty much everything else.
bluelovesorange: (Default)
Clearly I must find their music and listen to it immediately, because how many times have I said, oh I need some DAZZLE VISION in my life?

At least five, I think.

I've watched episode 2 of You're Beautiful, and I definitely think I'm going to need episode 3 before I can really go one way or another on recommending it as Watch or FLEE FOR THE HILLS, THERE ARE MORE WORTHIER WAYS TO WASTE YOUR TIME...or at least, feel less ashamed about!

I don't want to put anyone off necessarily, because it's not quite 'dumb as a box of hair' but there's got to be more than good natured bambi-eyed head tilting going on. Hijinks is a thin line to tread, and it can wear a viewer out pretty quickly, especially if one is looking for a better quality of crack.

At this point though, my favorite characters so far have to be Manager Shifty and grumpy Stylist Noona who will cut a bitch if you cross her.

Also, have the new trailer for Meisa's ASSAULT GIRLS, which is destined to be a b-list camp cult classic, because LOOK AT IT. THERE ARE GIANT SAND WORMS, but this ain't DUNE. Also, UNSPEAKABLY HOT.

The live-action "Space Battleship Yamato" movie had its cast publicly revealed on Friday, along with other new details about the project. The film is being directed by Takashi Yamazaki with a projected release date in December 2010.

As previously announced, SMAP member Takuya Kimura (36) will star as the protagonist Susumu Kodai, while Meisa Kuroki (21) has been confirmed as the replacement for Erika Sawajiri (23) in the role of Yuki Mori.

Two characters have been modified for the movie. Crew members Aihara and Dr. Sado have been changed into females, played by Maiko (24) and Reiko Takashima (45), respectively.

With Stardust Promotion looking to terminate its contract with actress Erika Sawajiri (23), it appears that rising star Meisa Kuroki (21) may be filling in for her in the live-action "Space Battleship Yamato" movie.

The movie itself was confirmed in July, with SMAP member Takuya Kimura (36) playing the lead. Sawajiri was tentatively offered the part of the heroine, Yuki Mori, and this was expected to be her comeback as an actress. She returned to Japan earlier this month, but her agency later refused to approve her appearance in "Yamato."

Sawajiri has previously caused problems for Stardust, and the company has reportedly decided to cancel her contract. Her dismissal is expected to be made official on September 28.

Along with Sawajiri, Kuroki is one of several actresses who were initially considered for the role of Yuki Mori. With Sawajiri out of the picture now, Kuroki has been chosen to replace her, and she was given an unofficial offer last week.

"Yamato" is scheduled to start filming during mid-October, with theatrical release planned for 2010.

Japan, plz remember I would like a ninja movie with Maki and Meisa in it. Thank you.

Also, where the hell is Maki's movie with Matsuyama Kenichi?

yesterday: had Vietnamese vegetarian food with S & K, watched the Ugly Truth, which is truth in advertising and also - keep your standards low, I always say. I miss Dear Frankie Gerard Butler. Puffy faced Romcom Gerard Butler, while still appealing (would I push him out of bed? Probably not. Unless he was eating haggis. Then yes - off to the couch with you) Even Phantom of the Opera Gerard Butler (hell, VAMPIRE 2000 Gerard Butler) is preferable to what happened to Gerard post 300. I still have fond memories of standing in a line, wrapped in a sari like a sausage (it was really hot in that convention hall) during Comic-con for a few hours - and then meeting GB and he was so beautiful in person - and a bit tired and I think the last thing he wanted to do was be there, surrounded by crazy folk with binders of his every movie/press interview - but he sucked it up and he was there, signing stuff. And I blurted out, Thank You so fervently -- and he smiled and thanked me -- and it was enough.

Where was I? Oh yes. Bad romantic comedies, a dime a dozen these days.

For my kdrama loving and YEH lusting friends, good news: My Fair Lady is set to premiere in August, to fill the void in your life from missing spoilt rich heiresses learning to love and empathize with the Common People while running about in insensible shoes and screaming YAH! at the top of their lungs. Expect comedy, delight, and a rain scene.

I'm 90% done with scanning LOVE MEISA....so...yeah.

I could go through a guidebook - but have been hitting up my friends for suggestions for places to see and go to in NYC for July 31st and August 4 - I'm absolutely fine for walking, I love walking, taxicabs and taxidrivers tend to frighten me (the last time I was there, I witnessed a huge accident at a crosswalk between a taxi driver, a SUV, and a very pissed off pedestrian who kept on screaming FUCK YOU to the t.driver who responded in kind) and I would not mind if someone volunteered to 'do' MoMA with me.

Oshii directing feature-length "Assault Girls"

Director Mamoru Oshii's newest project is "Assault Girls," his first feature-length live-action film since "Avalon" in 2001. The sci-fi action story will star Meisa Kuroki (21), Rinko Kikuchi (28), and Hinako Saeki (32).

Oshii previously directed two short films with the "assault girl" theme. The first, titled "Assault Girl: Kentucky no Hinako," was a segment in Oshii's 2007 omnibus movie "Shin Onna Tachiguishi Retsuden" and starred Saeki. The second, "ASSAULT GIRL2," was part of last year's "Kiru ~ KILL" omnibus and starred Kikuchi.

In "Assault Girls," the three lead actresses play assault rifle-wielding hunters fighting monsters known as "sand whales" in a desert battlefield.

The movie appears to be getting a limited theatrical release, starting on December 19.

Seeing how this is an an previewing Meisa's photobook LOVE MEISA and it'll probably just end up on baidu anyway, I have not watermarked these scans. snaps to [livejournal.com profile] tinyangl for bringing this cinematic greatness to my attention, because okay, I couldn't last through Smile, but SIGN ME UP FOR FORBIDDEN LOVE BETWEEN EMOTEEN VAMPIRE AND HIS BABYFACED TEACHER. (DUDE, I KNOW.)

American TV only WISHES it was this warped. It's funny how I can't abide Twilight, but I think it's because it takes itself so seriously when it's clearly a giant pile of fail - whereas this jdrama clearly looks like its sending itself up. I don't know. I don't ask motives, I just enjoy the sheer lunacy.

Meisa Kuroki teams up with Kusanagi in "Ninkyo Helper"

Some details are now out about Tsuyoshi Kusanagi's new comedy series, "Ninkyo Helper," which starts filming this week. One major cast addition is Meisa Kuroki, who will take on the heroine role.

"Ninkyo Helper" stars Kusanagi as the boss of a yakuza group. As part of training, his group's parent organization orders all of its subordinate bosses to work as nursing helpers at an elderly institution. This includes Kusanagi, as well as Kuroki, a female yakuza boss who starts out as Kusanagi's rival.

Ken Matsudaira has been cast as the leader of the parent gang, and Yui Natsukawa has been cast as the director of the nursing organization. Kota Yabu (of Hey! Say! JUMP), Shunji Igarashi, and Jutta Yuki will appear as yakuza underlings, while Yusuke Yamamoto and Riisa Naka play helpers at the institution.

The show will air on Fuji TV on Thursdays at 10:00pm, starting in early July.

*!!!$$YUSUKE.

and Riisa Naka! I'm with you [livejournal.com profile] sireensilver , nothing could have compelled me to finish watching Hachi One Diver, but she caught my eye.  Jutta Yuki...the cute one from Mei-chan, right? I only know this because of Unleash the Geek, I didn't finish M-chan. (Not even Hiro's hotness or Osamu's evilness was enough. But now I have BECK to look forward to....)

part two of my Shou/Chisato (I waffle on the romanization of his name, the official blog refers to him as Shou, the subs are Sho, this is of no interest to anyone except me, carry on) picspam tonight. Yeah, Saff chooses SLEEP. LATER, I promise.

And some caps from episode nine. Someone needs to translate the preview for me.
