just another Saturday Night
Apr. 10th, 2004 06:31 pmIs it weird that I just spent half an hour getting pretty (with makeup, hair straightening, the entire production) so I can go out to the movies by myself?
Have decided to chuck driving out to LA to see Johnathan Rice tonight - I'm going to go see him on the 24th, instead. M having broken her toe and therefore not available to go with me was only a small factor in me not going tonight - I'm just not in the mood for the long drive.
So, instead, I'm down to either seeing the True Love between My favorite gay cops (Starsky and Hutch), or Ella Enchanted. I kind of want to see Ella more than I do Starsky and Hutch, but I'm not sure if it's because its a horrified sort of interest in seeing it (I loved the book, I know the movie's nothing like the book, so its pointless to compare) or just because I'm in a fantasy escapist mood (though, you could argue the seventies hair and action sequences are fantasy). Pros going for it: Hugh Dancy (darling - and I want to see him outside of Daniel Deronda), Parminder Nagra, Anne Hathaway (appealing, though she's never cast accurately in all the book adaptations she's done - I find her charming) and....CARY ELWES.
Cons: it's marketed as a family film, which means children, which means small, noisy children and screaming babies and parents who don't turn off their cellphones and hello, berserker rage.
I do believe the banes of my life thus far are : children and frat boys.
Which is why I'm not going to see The Girl Next Door, even though it has Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant and Christopher Marquette - I can practically see the frat boys lining the seats for the porn and me wanting to kill them systematically.
What I want is to be adored yet left alone at the same time. Adore me from afar, dammit.
