Even though California is known for being sunny, dry and hot - I can't help but love these grey cool mornings we've been having lately. I feel like the world is still half asleep at this time, and there's just enough damp to pull on a hoodie but still be wearing pajamas and be comfortable before the afternoon brightness and humidity set in.

I've been reading the Chronicles of Narnia - of course I read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe cover to cover when I was little, but I don't remember any of the other stories in the series - maybe a little of The Last Battle, but all of the other books remain enticingly blank. I just finished Prince Caspian this morning. Oh, the animals.

If Walden Media is really serious about bringing the other stories to film, I really hope they bring these guys to life:

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] lilorphanannie!

This weekend is going to be mostly quiet - I have a graduation party to go to on Sunday, but Monday is going to be pretty stay at home - then Tuesday I start work. I also have summer school classes to sign up for, and even though it's in July, a wedding to figure out what to wear. It's one of my oldest friends from high school's wedding, and I'm in charge of her guestbook. It'll be the first proper grown up thing I've done all summer, I think...

well, you know, aside from the coming back from another country, the new job, and being able to pay for summer school all by myself for once - that is. It just seems like I'm on the cusp of something bigger, but I'm still holding back somehow. Much like feeling in limbo between California and England - I'll always love California and there's so much to explore within this state, but that really deep longing of wanting to be back there - because the time I had there was real freedom. Freedom to fail without being scared of it. Moments like being in Green Park and seeing all the lawn chairs and sleepers - at school this happens as well, but being in a London spring time and seeing daffodils and tulips and knowing that truly good weather is a blessing? It's different.

I'm tentatively planning to go back in October, but anything could dismantle that - I'm going to be enrolling in more creative writing classes in the fall at my university, so that could be an issue, and there's the funds - I'll be making money, but I have auto insurance to pay for. Oh well. Little steps.
