you cast aside the shroud of another man
Aug. 31st, 2003 11:00 pmgot back from my celebration with E and M: I'm now the proud owner of a Will Turner POTC theatrical poster and a back to school Engrish survival kit - so if any of you ever need a Pikachu themed gluestick or Hello Kitty notepads, I'm your girl. I baked cheesecake brownies for the occasion and brought over a small bomb shelter's worth of junkfood (chex mix, tortilla strips, five layer dip, combos, lime soda, etc.) and E had pizza and mozzarella sticks so we basically stuffed our faces, sat around in huge comfortable chairs and had a bitchfest about all kinds of drama: family (the people I know who have genuinely 'happy and well adjusted' families, I can count on one hand), the jobmarket, insignificant others (E's excited about her upcoming nuptials in August, and I'm invited, so we have to figure out how we're going to roadtrip it to Boston next year), hot men, the specifics of flirting (basically we found that if we're interested in someone - we act either incredibly stupid - or in my case, act like I'm completely not interested at all to the point where the other person thinks I'm ignoring him, when in actual painful reality, I am ....god help me...actively pining in a freakish Victorian repressed heroine way. Only with combat boots and better hair.) and that all the wrong people hit on us (or actually, not at all. I'm not the kind of girl who gets hit on. Which is fine with me. I don't think I'd know how to respond appropriately anyway.) and the usual highschool confidential reminiscing - at last count, none of us are going to our ten year reunion.
Unless, we're going to gloat.
*G*
M's determined to marry him out of Belle and Sebastian and live in a manor in Scotland, E's marrying her boy (clearly) and convincing him to move out to California ('Seasons are overrated! Honestly!'), and as usual, I'm interested in World TOMINATION, a really good book, and someone who doesn't bore me to tears...and I can talk to about anything and not feel like I'm censoring myself. Until then, libraries and the import section of your finer record stores make up the bulk of my successful relationships, and we'll be celebrating our ten year anniversary next week. Send flowers.
I'm firmly of the belief that nothing says "parrrtay" like Grosse Pointe Blank. John Cusack in one of the most quotable movies ever, stylishly executing people? Oh yes. I heart that movie.
( class schedule for fall 2003 )
It only seems like everyone's doing it, but here's one of the songs that's currently Eaten My Brain. It's just a sudden full body groove - I heard this song in the teaser clip for Havana Nights, and it's been niggling at the brain stem ever since...and I finally got the full version. It just makes me want to dance. Or roadtrip to Mexico and suck down a lot of tequila. Whichever comes first.
( just listen to the beat )
Happy birthday to

Virgos rock.
Not that I'm biased or anything.
* would anyone be interested in what my plan for World TOMINATION actually is?
Unless, we're going to gloat.
