all i want for Christmas is you
Dec. 20th, 2004 09:34 pmThe happy:
I have my homestay information. I KNOW WHERE I'M LIVING IN LONDON. And either I'm sharing a room with two other people, or I'm staying in my own room, and there are two other students in the house as well. (They probably want the young nubile people together away from the socially retarded bitter old woman. I'm not sure what I put on my form now...)
Also, Muswell Hill? Anyone want to fill me in on personal knowledge of it? Besides it being "a charming Edwardian suburb?"
I'll be staying with a recently retired lady, who has grandchildren, but I don't think they live with her. So my dream of living in a house with no children has been fulfilled.
I'm posting a postcard to her tomorrow, immediately.
The unhappy:
I took my mother to the hospital this morning for her shoulder surgery, and she's staying overnight. Tomorrow morning I'll pick her up, and there's supposed to be some sort of machinery to help with her physical therapy, and that's coming tomorrow as well.
Also? Being stalked, even by proxy, is annoying - what's worse is when the stalker is a stupid idiot.
It's like having a lame archnemesis. "I am ashamed and appalled - I thought I rated higher than that...but apparently not."
I am behind on everything - but I still want to send mail from the UK, so if you want a hand made postcard or a letter or whatever, please send me your mailing address. The second half of my semester is going to be fairly light, so I should have time to write letters and such.
ETA: I COULD POSSIBLY BUY THE NEW HARRY POTTER WHILE I'M IN ENGLAND. OH PLEASE BE RELEASED BEFORE APRIL 22ND! eh, I could live with July 16.
Brilliant - the Wikipedia entry for Muswell Hill.
