on the last day in NY
Mar. 27th, 2007 10:54 amI sat in a Chinese restaurant, and watched New Yorkers stroll by with their dogs, ate a lot of good food, and played with a tiny fruit roll up of a dog. He was white and wore a striped sweater of purple, yellow, and green.
Then I bought Overheard in New York and giggled all the way on the plane ride to Detroit, texted people, finally flew into LAX, and spent twenty minutes waiting for my shuttle to take me home.
And now that I'm home, I'm kind of feeling weird - (and a little plaguey still, but at least I didn't have the chesty kind that was messing with Dare, just the really really sore throat and the phlegmy cough) and displaced. I always feel disconnected after coming back from a trip, so I should be used to this feeling, but I'm always surprised by it. I miss having tea. And having gorgeous buildings around to look at.
On the trip, we talked about 300 a lot and I was talking to Mala about watching The Namesake, but now that I'm home with my super matinees, I don't feel like watching either. I kind of want to see if Letters from Iwo Jima is still playing anywhere, or just wait until Blades of Glory comes out. (I've decided I do actually like Will Ferrell. This is as big of a shock to me as it is to you, I'm sure.)
I'm going back into work tomorrow and I only hope that the manga section hasn't been completely burned down into the ground. Oh, and seeing all of my cool coworkers, of course.
( things and people that reminded me why I had such a good time )
I did go and embrace my Asian-ness yesterday though, and went to 99 Ranch Market (they've got a new food court now! With teppanyaki and Chinese Italian pastries!) and bought Hit and Marco Polo Shrimp Crisps. I also meandered down to Kinokinuya and managed to walk away with only a little stationery and no manga or cds. If I were to write a drama that I'd like to be in, it would be the most cracked out office lady situation ever, and stationery would play a supporting role. And there would be Johnnys, of course, but as complete geek roles.
Also, May is mighty close.....
