Actually, no, I've been kind of bad.

That is neither here nor there.

ANYWAY, (waiting on translation from one of the english Japanese entertainment blogs) but HANA KIMI IS A GO WITH MAKI, SHUN, AND TOMA.

SHUN! MAKI! KISSING! TOMA! SPAZZING OUT!

AAIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Ahem. It is like winning tickets to see paul mccartney in scotland, escorted by gerard butler. That is how excited I am about this. I am a total dork.

The rumors of a live-action "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e" series have finally been confirmed. The drama, which has been given the subtitle "Ikemen Paradise," will air every Tuesday at 9:00pm on Fuji TV, starting on July 3. Maki Horikita, Shun Oguri, and Toma Ikuta have been cast in major roles.

The drama is based on the popular manga of the same name by Hisaya Nakajo, which has already been dramatized in Taiwan. Horikita plays the protagonist Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl in the U.S. who one day sees the young athlete Izumi Sano (Oguri) compete in the high jump on television. She begins to idolize him, and decides to move to Japan to attend the same school as him. However, Izumi goes to an all-boys school, so Mizuki disguises herself as a boy to achieve her dream of being with her idol.

Toma plays the part of Shuichi Nakatsu, a classmate and friend of Mizuki and Izumi.

Oguri Shun and Maki Horikita both worked on the tv version of Densha Otoko, but didn't have any scenes together. However a little digging around (thanks to the yamaki forums), unearthed this gem: http://www.tudou.com/programs/view.php?itemID=3687710

It's this weird little short revolving around two Yanki teenagers portrayed by Maki and Shun - and they're both male. Hopefully their hair in Hana-kimi will be miles better.

There's a confession of love, random violence, hilarious strutting and TERRIBLE HAIR.

I think Maki has the ability to pull off the girl dressing as a boy androgynous vibe - it really depends on how they style her hair - but Mizuki is always referred to as the cutest boy in the school, and the drawings are hardly butching her up (look out for part 2, where I do pic by pic comparison). If they can pull off something like this for Mizuki, I think it'll be a success.

Also, come on. Some of the biggest boy stars in J-entertainment land are only an operation away from actually being biological girls, and that's just for plumbing - their faces are pretty feminine. Androgyny is the new black!

*preemptive strike against any negative posts I'm sure to encounter in forums about "omg, they cast HER?"
