Oh, Maki-chan. Besides being a imperial princess, a girl cross dressing as a boy, a plucky mechanic, a teppanyaki chef, Mrs. Dark & Brooding (Kurosagi SPRING 2008! MARK YOUR CALENDARS!), a terminally ill girl, is there no role you can't do?

Actress Maki Horikita, who is currently starring as a girl posing as a boy in the drama series "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e," will again appear in a male role for a film due out next year.

Shunichi Hirano's"Tokyo Shonen" is the story of Minato, a girl who lost her parents at ayoung age. She has a pen pal named Night (or Knight) whom she confides in, but she knows nothing about him except that he is supposedly a boy her age. In reality, he is actually her alter ego.

Her two personalities are very different - Minato is usually cheerful, while Night is much more dark. Things turn interesting when she tells Night that she is falling in love with a boy she meets (Takuya Ishida). Unfortunately, her Night side has also fallen for Minato, creating a complex love "triangle."

Filming started in January and has already wrapped up. "Tokyo Shonen" is scheduled to hit theaters on February 2, 2008.

Wait, so...Knight falls in love with Minato, the base personality, or does Knight fall in love with the (unnamed) boy?

It sounds completely twisted and c.a.f.

The second episode of Hanazakari kimitach e is going to up in raw torrents soonish, english subs for the second episode of Korea's "Coffee Prince" are out, and I'm downloading Inoue Mao's "First Kiss," now.

Oh, plucky drama heroines - never leave me.

"What did I know about dealing with Chinese mafia members who are insane with jealousy? The sum total of my knowledge about the Triads came from Hong Kong movies starring Chow Yun Fat. Based on those, I'd need two handguns that I'd have to fire simultaneously while diving horizontally in slow motion through dozens of white doves."

I finally ventured over to the JET program's website and was blindsided by how closely it's tied to the Japanese government and how much paperwork I'm going to need to provide and fill out. Then there are screening interviews with embassies and consulates, and I'm a little intimidated by the whole thing, but it's not the only program I'm searching out, so even if I get rejected by JET, there is always another way.

I get to go to Disneyland next weekend to hang out with my girl B. I'm looking forward to the Finding Nemo subs and Space Mountain, as always.
