I have a heart of glass
Jul. 16th, 2007 12:36 pmStuff....stuff has happened. I went to Disneyland on the 14th with my B and her fiancé, oohed and ahhed appropriately over her sparkler - (it's a beautiful ring), and due to the slight twinge in my legs TWO DAYS LATER, I can safely reconfirm, Goddamn, I'm out of shape. I'm not positive what shape I'm supposed to be, but I assume sausage arms are not part of the equation. Must go back to jump roping and treadmills and morning runs again. Gaaaaah, this 'life' plan is a bit annoying.
I always go to Disneyland when someone out of town comes to visit me in my dreary little cul-de-sac, as living down the street from it doesn't inspire me to go visit it every day, for some strange reason.
I really had a great time though, mostly because of the company - but because of the few surprises - the newly tweaked PoTC (new to me, I haven't been to Dland in about a year and a half? Two years?), the new addition to the Haunted Mansion, and taking the "eternal youth" path on the Indiana Jones Adventure, which definitely felt much more jerkier and faster than the "riches" and "future" paths.
Space Mountain was down for maintenance when we finally arrived at the line (curses, foiled again), the Finding Nemo Submarine ride was ridiculously, insanely 3 hours long, even at 10:30 pm at night (a work friend later told me, if you're in line, they're obligated to get you on the ride, no matter what time it is. Which sucks HARDCORE for the crew. I don't need to go on a ride that much.)
but I got to go on King Arthur's carousel, Snow White, Mr. Toad, Indiana Jones, PoTC, the Haunted Mansion, Pinocchio, Autopia (where B swears she didn't mean to, but viciously attacked me from behind when we were at rest, I SEE YOUR NEFARIOUS PLAN), and saw the Tiki room (where I had a nap, because it was so peaceful and cool and mmmmmmmmm, Pineapple Dole Whip)....and played on "Pirate Lair" (Tom Sawyer's Island.) where you get to make your way through dark caverns and child-sized openings and ( spoiler for a theme park attraction )
and then we ran across the bridges like Jack and giggled like loons while doing it.
We also had good, overpriced Disney food. It was a great day, and I'm so glad that I got to see B more than once a year.
And then in a few months, I'll have M and her boy, and
amezri is coming to stay and we will have a BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TO END ALL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS (or possibly cause a few boys to cry. I haven't decided yet.) and I will be another year older, not necessarily wiser. And then on to the future, as usual.
My digital camera died recently - it was behaving oddly during the Anime Expo of Doom (and now next year it's moving to the L.A. convention center. Unless they fly in God or somebody to that status, I'm not going next year. I've bought all the COPICs I needed) but finally gave up the ghost. I looked up my model, and apparently the life span is only about 2-4 years, which is how long I've had it. I'm debating on whether to get it fixed for 99 dollars, or do more research and get a new model. I know what kind I'd like (if I had bags of money), but I also have a regular film camera that I haven't touched in about....4 years and all this spare film. So it's a wait and see kind of deal - but do any of you have recommendations for digital cameras? I'll be looking at Consumer Reports and eopinions, but I always appreciate more feedback.
You probably won't hear from me again for another few weeks, but not because I will be reading The Last Harry Potter, but I am working the midnight shifts this weekend, and will probably be so swallowed in rage, that I will be a danger to non-hateful, happy shiny people. I'm in so much burnout from the entire HP circus (and I didn't enjoy the previous book at all), that I need another month or so to adjust. I haven't seen the new movie either.
So rest assured I will not be spoiling the book for anyone, as I won't read it until August - I might buy it to get the sale price, but actual reading will not occur.
Hana Kimi continues to envelope my soul in a warm, golden, crack-riddled glow. I think there needs to be more cross-dressing on American tv, or perhaps I am just watching the wrong shows. Or my continued lack of cable.
