life? don't talk to me about life.

It was a memorial day sale, so really - they were practically paying me to take Marvin off of their hands - I have a three hundred dollar rebate coming to me in the mail.
First day at work?
My first day – sponsored by the word “chill.” I kept on hearing about it all day – “working here is very chill, isn’t it?” I suppose using the phrase ‘butt monkey languorous’ would be too much, so ‘chill’ it has to be.
Met some of my new coworkers – Melanie, who’s worked for the company before, and has a year before she graduates from school, but is getting married this summer. She’s a local girl, but goes to university in Utah. Pale blonde, with freckles - her favorite author is Orson Scott Card (is that his name?) so I'm going to guess she loves the Ender series. She also loves magazines. Very nice, but we didn't really spend a lot of time talking to each other.
Adam is the cute boy I saw when I was dropping off paperwork, and to my relief there was no sparkage between us. My vows of relationship celibacy remain strong – I have too much going on to spare any serious thought on romance. Adam is cute enough – he fits my type more than say, certain other people did – as he is exactly tall and dark haired and he’s a geek. Star Wars and comic books, from what I can tell: he was going on about the Revenge of the Sith, the new Superman movie, and he picked Sin City as his staff recommendation. He’s a smoker and recently took a leave of absence from school. I think we might be friends, but it’s still a little too early to tell – for all I know he could turn out to be a Seth Cohen type – initially cute and dorky, but it’s all a emo façade for emotional retardation and selfishness. And no way am I going to be his Anna. He taught me how to take the trash out, and if I was feeling it, I could tell you oh, the tension hung thick as we rode up and down the freight elevator and he didn't let me take the cart because it was 'heavy' (it wasn't), but there wasn't any.
I didn’t work the register today, instead I spent most of my time shelving and reshelving books. I had no idea Amber Frey’s confessional counted as “social science,” but I don’t make up the labels. Because if I did, I would have labeled Ann Coulter crazy propagandist drivel, but what can you do?
Things I have to do:
1. Compare and contrast Miyazaki's Howl (from what I've seen in the trailer) to Diana's Howl. Quotes.
2. Finish artwork/projects. Hand lettering is SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS. Or maybe it's because I'm so scatter brained lately that I can't enjoy the slow artistry in it, but whatever. I'm just going to cut out fonts next time.
3. Plan trip to see Howl in L.A. and home city - home city first, then L.A. Probably on a weekend. Also plan to see people (annie and monique) haven't seen in ages.
4. Ask for day off in July, for wedding.
5. Register for summer school.
6. Stick to budget.
7. Find some kind of ice pack to wrap chocolate in so it won't melt in mail. Suggestions? And no, I can not mail dry ice.
8. Watch Return of the King (extended version) for the FIRST TIME.
9. Compare prices on wireless routers - Marvin has wireless capabilities and can be voice activated as well, so there's still a lot of things I have to read in the handbook.
10. Speaking of which, actually read Employee Handbook.
11. Compile new Get Recced.
12. Wash hair.
13. Try not to stab people in face for their unflinching stupidity. Is not their fault am hormonal bloated whale of anger.
14. go to bank
15. Sleep. a lot. This could be moved up several notches.
