for [livejournal.com profile] siryn99 and anyone else who wants a refresher course on Tom Mcrae's music, aka the reason why I'm going to be out of the country next Wednesday (and totally not in a stalkery-superobsessive way, mind you). I'm missing VM's season premiere, and Serenity's release. Damn straight seeing Tom play live with a band is worth that.

re: VM. it's not about who's at the door but who Veronica wants to be at the door.

A selection of tunes, from all of Tom's studio albums, and some live renditions as well - if I've missed any particular favorites, they'll probably show up in part II. Feel free to spread the Tomination.

Tom Mcrae is a British musician whose music has appeared in shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Six Feet Under, Rescue Me, and bumper music for Jack and Bobby, and recent commercial work for a car. His music also been featured in several notable fan music videos, specifically in the Alias and Farscape fandoms. Besides being an awesome singer songwriter, Tom is also a damn fine human being. Fine as in funny, sweet and infinitely patient and charming - fine as in well, he's also quite attractive. I became interested in his music after hearing a 30 second preview on Amazon, bought his debut on the strength of that, and then heard "Sao Paulo Rain" used in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was like kismet. He came to LA, I met him, and the restraining order hasn't come out since - er, I consider him a friend. I imagine he must find me tolerable.

Ever since, whenever I could go see him peform live, I have, and brought countless amount of people for the ride. I help run a fan site World Tomination online with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] amezri. I've made friends through his music, and possibly a few naysaying enemies as well, but whatever. Despite all this, I still get tongue tied and nervous about talking to him after shows, because I am a social idiot (just ask [livejournal.com profile] eowyn797. As it is, I'm just incredibly lucky and pleased to know him and I only want more people to get into his music, because he deserves it.

Need beautiful vocals, painfully personal lyricism, and a knife sharp live performance? Tom's your man. And his cellist Oli Krause, keyboard player Olli Cunningham are fantastic musicians as well.

I downloaded that live version of How the West Was Won from you over a year ago. It's now the most played song on my iTunes. I love it more than words can express. That's the song that hooked me on Tom. And made me drag a friend to his concert and buy the CD there.

Also, Spite of Me, The Only Thing I know, You Cut her Hair and Soldier Song all gave me error messages.

thanks for the heads up...

You. Are. Awesome. I do have most of these, as I've been thoroughly Tominated already, but I can't wait to hear the ones that are new to me! Also, Hummingbird Song and Still Life links didn't work for me.

i fixed those links...Ithink.

*crosses fingers* I'm uploading more live versions of songs right now. And also check tom's personal website, as he has video and some more covers (he did Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds) there in 'downloads'.
