Yes, it's official - Shota's been cast to play Maki's husband in her NHK drama, Atsuhime. Miyazaki Aoi is playing the title character, Maki is the supporting lead, and OMG, SHOTA IS PLAYING HER HUSBAND and there is a previous engagement and it is an arranged marriage but they fall in love anyway (or at least history tells us they were happy together) and there is tragedy and HI, PRETTY HISTORICAL COSTUMES and MAKI + SHOTA and D-ADDICTS PLEASE ARRANGE TO HAVE THIS IN TORRENTS/AND OR/SUBBED.

I know I'll watch next year if it becomes available.

It starts airing in January, Maki's supposed to start her filming in February, and since it's a Taiga Drama, it goes on for a year. Considering the amount of star power involved, I think there would be definite fandom interest in subbing it, it's just that since it is a year long/49 episodes (average, I think?) that it would take a lot of commitment and sustained interest. Hopefully at least there will be summaries made, because I could have those and just watch the raws!

I heard about that, but since I can't watch Takki act in anything, (I HAVE TRIED REPEATEDLY AND FAILED), I understand where you are coming from.

I hope because this one is more about the legend/history of a powerful female figure, and because of the cast, that fandom will be interested in subbing it, because yeah, SRSLY.
