  • Star Trek was a lot of fun, and mercifully easy to understand, especially for a non-Trekker/ie like me. I went in just wanting to be entertained, and I got that and more. And also, though I didn't care much for Zachary Quinto's Sylar (look, sometimes the smooth talking sociopath is not the character to have a crush on, okay fandom? Now stfu.) I do love his Spock. And Simon Pegg. I love you, Simon Pegg. LOVE YOU.
  • Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714 on her graduation from med school. Now I can call you Dr. D. Like Dr. Horrible, but competent.
  • I've watched Atashinchi no Danshi episode 5 about seven times now, though half of that was just ffing to my favorite parts. Which I will be sharing in another post, with screencaps of flail.
  • I've dumped GomPlayer for The KMPlayer
  • I'm really looking forward to seeing UP! as I've loved almost every Pixar movie that I've seen. But I'm also very excited about Disney bringing back oldskool hand-drawn animation in the form of the Princess and the Frog. The Disney princesses were some of my earliest drawing models.
  • If you don't understand why this is funny, you don't really know me: The script to the new Twilight franchise movie was found in the trash
  • The trailer for 9 simultaneously creeps and fascinates me
  • I think I am going to try and make custard this weekend. My summer fruit trifle worked out nicely a few weekends ago....
  • Jonny Lee Miller and Romola Garai are to be the new Mr. Knightley and Emma Woodhouse in another BBC Jane Austen adaptation. I AM SO EXCITED, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. Even though Emma is my least favorite Austen - I love Romola. (And JLM!)

Wow.

I just saw JLM in the really inaccurate Mansfield Park production, and I really have a thing for BBC heros ....

Those all his secret tattoo's do seem a little off putting.

Eli Stone + Mr. Knightley + period clothing = win.

So Star Trek is completely watch-able for a non-fan, even if I've never even watched a single episode and wouldn't even understand the "beam me up Scotty" reference? XD

I also saw the trailer for 9 yesterday... and shivered the whole way through. Did they have to make the main characters look so... strange and unloveable? >

SENTIENT RAG DOLLS. TELL ME THAT'S

NOT A HORROR MOVIE.

Yes, I'm a complete non-fan and I got through it pretty well. Scotty is played by Simon Pegg and his fake scottish accent is the most adorable thing ever.

Second to Anton Chekhov, really. (And I laugh, thinking that this boy is going to be playing Maki's ex boyfriend in Memoirs of a teenage amnesiac.)
