So, last night was the last time I watched any of ABC's 'comedies' voluntarily.
This is of course all Victor Garber's fault.
But it was muy amusing to see Victor all tricked out as an interior decorator with a little soul patch and an outraged sensibility. I love Victor Garber.
The actor who plays the son on "It's all relative" reminds me of an older John Hensley. He is not so cute that I would continue watching "It's all relative."
Speaking of cute...
The OC. I heard two guys talking about it this morning. They were talking excitedly about subplots and the drama...and the really hot chicks, but YOU KNOW they were really just glossing on the entire Luke-Ryan tension.
Also, number #45690 in the long list of "You know when Slash has eaten your brain" - was when I saw the music video for Travis' (yeah, hi. Remember them? They were before Coldplay? Scottish? Yes, that's them.) new song, "Repeat Offender" and when i saw the bruise makeup and the fighting that was going on in it...did I think, oh, how cute, they're making a break up/band politic/people growing apart statement?
No.
I did not.
Instead, I thought..."oooo, rough trade."
Hello, I'm going to the bad place.
other exciting things - as I was walking to the parking structure last night, I spotted a baby!oliver on the escalator (Oliver being well, the made up character in my collection of short stories, ie, a cycle, thank you for the fancy English Major Talk). It was weird.
And then today, I stumbled upon an entire group of English/Scottish International students in the computer lab.
It's like the heavens opened up.
I guess I'm finally making up for all the eye-candy I haven't been seeing for the past few weeks (in boys. I see cute girls EVERYWHERE. I *know* beautiful girls. It's a never ending candyland.)
one more random note about the OC: Adam Brody is just....I mean, there's the lickable and then there's the run off with him in a picnic hamper thing - cos OH MY GOD, THAT GREEN SHIRT.
SO MUCH PRETTY.
I love the Cohens.
and okay, if Summer was characterized like this from the beginning, I would have loved her unreservedly. She amuses, and I agree on the early Cordy/Xander vibe, but I'm just still too caught up in the entire materialistic pettiness she exhibited in the early days. The undefinable 'sweetness', the Madam Bovary reading...it was all good, but it's just a little too late for me, I'm afraid. I carry a grudge like no one's business, I guess. Some characters you love because they're bitches, or if they're just so flat out amazing and clever with their lines and you see something in it that touches you (Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls, with a bullet), you love because they are 'difficult'....I just can't get on the Sweet Summer train. This will probably change as the season gets on - but right now, it's going to take more than just candy stripes. (and yes, a little of my Summer issues have to do with how much I adore Seth, and I can't fathom why anyone would pass him up, despite their niche in the social wasteland or self imposed hangups...Seth is SO WORTH EVERYTHING. Sorry. I also have residual Lane and Dave issues. Damn you, Adam Brody.)

Date: 2003-10-30 07:17 pm (UTC)That was the same thing I thought! Execpt it was more like "ooo, lovers spat."
I'm not the type to slash every guy I see, like some people do. (That drives me nuts.) But I do see slash in odd places some times. Travis, on the other hand, like slashy vibes, I'm fairly sure. I'll share a picture for good measure.

Date: 2003-10-30 09:11 pm (UTC)Yeah. She was so amazingly two-dimensional and stupid in the beginning. And it took them quite a while to make her more than just a big HO. I don't know why they waited so long. It was like they had a meeting and decided just for fun, let's see if we can make this character totally unlikeable, and THEN sucker the audience back in. It'll be an extra challenge! *g*
But I'm liking her. Hee. I'm easy. She and Seth have a cute chemistry for me. And I enjoy their banter and the way they play off each other. Definite Cordy/Xander vibe. So I'm totally willing to chalk up early Summer as an exercise in bad-writing that is now behind us. *G*
I do agree with you on Seth being worth everything. I mean, if she can't see how great Seth is, and if she isn't chosing him over any stupid excuse then that does bug me. But I have a feeling she's going to end up fighting for him after she lets him get away. So her not valuing him like she should, yet, isn't bugging me too much. Really, I just enjoy them together. I would enjoy Seth on his own, alone in a room, talking to himself. But I think Adam works especially well off her resistance, so I believe I have a new ship. *G*
