May. 13th, 2004 08:52 amThe beast is still currently at the shop. However by the time I get it back, there will be a new computer waiting to be routed to it.
That's right - the unthinkable happened. I talked my mom into finally buying a computer. Not just looking at the dell website for hours and then hanging up the help line because they dared to put her on hold - we went out last night and bought a brand new machine. An emachine, in fact.
160 gb hard drive, 512 mb RAM, with 64 mb video memory, a dvd/cd burner/rom (I CAN BURN DVDS. OMGOMGOMG!) Various USB ports, 8-in-memory card slots. Windows XP home edition (hey, this means I can finally use Adobe CS. Cyn, would you be up for sending me that cd?). Also DID I MENTION THE +/- DVD AND CD BURNER?!?
Oh, and integrated networking and ethernet and some other technical stuff that makes very little sense, but I'm assuming it's of the good.
I am not typing from Algernon, unfortunately - still relying on school resources. Reason why - we forgot to check the packaging last night before paying for it - and we ended up buying the emachine model that didn't come with a floppy drive. Which is weird, because I emphatically pointed at the display model (which did come with a floppy drive) and said, I want THAT, but my mom's going to go back today and swap it for one that does have a floppy drive.
So, there's a brief ray of shining light. I'll have a computer to finish my papers and such, while waiting for the beast (because the Beast has all my other writing on it. Drafts of bad poetry, novels, short stories, etc. Art work. Plus all that porn. Um...pictures of pretty people. You know what I meant.)
Just...I'm so excited. I HAVE SO MUCH TO DO. I have to download all the music I've been recced lately (if anyone posted music lately, could they comment in my lj, the entry they did it in?) and then I can FINALLY upload my Get Recced for May (A double edition, because I missed you guys so), I can format my fic and upload more Glass without waiting four hours for a computer to become available, I can finally play with Adobe CS, I CAN FINISH MY CD BURNING (and![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

Oh, and I have that backlog of icons to put up too. Eh, that can wait.

So, I sent Tom his package yesterday, and now I'm thinking - man gets so much love from fandom, but since he's only got dial up on his computer, it's a bit difficult for him to check out all the multimedia stuff we have over at tomination.org. I sent off the shows, but now I'm thinking of compiling a cd with fan videos that used his music. I mean, right off the top of my head - Jo, and that really really beautiful Farscape video - I think he'd get a kick out of it. I mean, of course I'm going to ask the authors if I can burn their video in the first place, but DUDE, how cool would it be for Tom to see that interpretation of his work?
Just thinking out loud here.

DUDE. Pansy looks like a mini lulu stylista posh bitch in training. I mean, she's not Pansy of the books, but you can see why Draco goes for her.
