Dear Liam Gallagher,

You aren't in the best band in the world, and frankly, you never were. You were mildly cool in the 90's but that's only BECAUSE WE DIDN'T KNOW SHIT. And I use the 'we' as in media people who feed on anyone with blue eyes, a trace of an accent, and the amusing tendecy to throw up the V-sign as some subversive UK hipster stance.

Just because some of your musical 'peers' went to university does not in fact, make them wankers. Conversely, just because you didn't go, doesn't make you a wanker. However: the verbal diarrhea, incoherent grandstanding, appalling taste in neckwear, and general personality of classist yob DOES.

Damon's let it go, for god's sake man, grow up.

And cut your hair.

AND LYLA SUCKS ASS.

sincerely,

Saffron Chan

And the name of the album, Don't Believe The Truth, or whatever it is. SO STUPID!

(I know I'm a stranger, but I just found and read this post and was like YES)

Is this a reaction to the NME interview? 'Cause it made me really mad aswell. Complete and utter up-their-own-arses jerks.

no, it was bottled up rage from....christmas

Or actually, bottled up annoyance from every interview either of the Brothers Gallagher give. They're worse than Creed in terms of pomoposity, but at least everyone laughs at Creed - when I was in England, it seemed like there was a bit of respect left for Oasis. Or was it pointless nostalgia? Either way, their debut album remains their best album, and everything they've put out since is pretty much sonic tripe.

I was browsing through stereogum's archives, found the quote in question and thought....what a fucking wanker.

Yeah to be honest there is quite a lot of respect left - especially in Manchester, which is near where I'm living at the moment. It's only 'cause they're from here though.
I just HATE THEM! They wind me up so much, 'cause there is so much music coming out which is relatively original and they try to say that they only exist 'cause of Oasis. Grrrr.

oh yeah, hometown heroes.

I get that. I remember, just before I left, there was an NME sidebar about the state of the music scene in the UK and the upcoming general elections, and Oasis and Tony Blair's New Labour were written off as "not as good as they used to be," Charles Kennedy's Liberal Democrats were Keane -"nice but useless" and the Darkness were the Tories - "stylish but soulless."

It made me crack up at the time, now to steal a phrase from the tories....are you thinking what I'm thinking? Oasis are so far up their arses, they might as well put down stakes and build a mansion there.

Hahahaha exactly! I'm kinda supporting the Lib Dems but the likeness to Keane is putting me off.
My little cousin (aged 3) knows all the words to their songs, bless him.
