....dude, after a certain age, amusement parks cease to be amusing and become harbingers of pain and soreness. Or - I'm just super fucking out of shape.

I grudgingly think it might be the latter. Though, yesterday at Knott's, I did have a great time with the girls. It's just that the day after? There has definitely been an outbreak of blooming bruises all over my knees and my right thigh, where I was shook pretty badly by Ghostrider, and all the other tiny pains added up to one big body ache. Need another hot shower, fast.

The good and the great about Knott's, compared to that other amusement park we shall not name because I can't afford to go there and stand under its golden ears ~ it's much more relaxed, less sensory overload everywhere. Also, if you bring friends and split food, the cost is way cheap - i don't think I spent more than twenty five dollars all day (and thanks to L, I didn't even have to pay admission). And the funnel cake. We took a break midway to go to Claim Jumpers, where Shar and I split their ribs lunch special. SO GOOD.

So, I wasn't in San Jose over the weekend actually, I was in San Luis Obispo, which is very different, but still lovely for the newness. I am attempting to upload my pictures of the scenery and such in Facebook, but FB is being a giant pain in my ass this morning, what else is new, so expect to see stunning sunsets and cliff shots between now and next year (I think that's a safe estimate?)

I also finally made it up to Solvang, which I love for its kitschy take on Denmark - windmills and fudge kitchens and surrey rides -- riding one of those bicycles was a childhood dream finally fulfilled, no matter how lame that makes me sound. Pushing it up the hill and running in traffic with it was less fun, as then I had the distinct feeling of HI EVERYONE'S LOOKING AT YOUR ASS AND IT'S BECAUSE IT'S RIGHT THERE.

I also went wine tasting, or more accurately, I rode in a car with my friends to the Rabbit Ridge Winery and witnessed them wine tasting. Then I went outside by myself and took pictures of the rose garden and the scenery and talked on the phone with [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714 while trying to maintain a pleasant conversation with a drunk man from Tennessee. The weekend was full of amiable drunk men trying to have conversations with me. The one from Tennessee reassured me that "No ma'am, I'm not hitting on you. I've been married 25 years and it's the best thing I've ever done." Everyone go awwwwwww. He wrote his wife poetry, though he used to think it was for sissies, but clearly being married 25 years is a life changing thing.

And oh, Tuesday night I went to a birthday party for a two year old and it was probably the highlight of my day - he was so cute and so bubbly and charming and such a good little host - he kept on serving food to people and getting them to high five him. Benjamin's cuteness is why I could see why some people would want to have children and while I was extremely charmed by him, I still can't see myself in that position. I'll still be the cool aunt though.
