Saturday night - I hung out with a friend and we wandered around downtown Gwangju for a bit - he bought an excellent Uniqlo t-shirt that had Mickey Mouse saying, "Ho Ho, This is the easiest money I've ever made!" (or something equally genius - oh Mickey, you scamp!) we got lost searching for the Smoothie King, I bought apple crumble and got free cake from the foreigner's bake sale - and we saw this young man giving away free hugs. Yes, Free Hugs have infiltrated Korea, too. D told me the boy wanted me to hug him, I said, why don't you hug him, Korea is huge on skinship between men.

Also, Boy D (I should be clear that this is not the D, but a boy who has D in his name) has been taking Korean classes and can now read (I got to get on it, I can't be the last foreigner who can't read Hangul here!) it, informed me the sign actually said "Pree Hug" (but on the back was Free Hugs in English) because of the consonants in Korean.

We also caught a couple of performances of Korea's Next Top Dance Crew (not the official title, just what I'm calling it) at the little outdoor stage in front of Migliore, a shopping mall in Downtown.
